I'm a bit of a watch geek, so when I saw this at a watch shop in Hong Kong, I picked one up. On its face, it's a pretty simple watch, but under the hood it has a stopwatch (with a full size sweep second *and* minute hand, separate from the regular time keeping dials, and a lap timing mode. (The thin silver (seconds) and red (minutes) hands are shown in the image above.)

It's waterproof down to nearly 1000 feet, which is kind of silly number, but that's in a test chamber. Take this puppy diving and that extra breathing room helps the watch take a pounding. When not adjusting the watch, the stem screws in tight to maintain a good seal, and keeps you from accidentally changing the time.

Pull the stem out half way to adjust the hour and change the calendar (with nice detents!) Pull the stem all the way out to adjust the minutes.

The top button starts and stops the stopwatch, the bottom button resets the stopwatch or triggers a lap time reading.

I'm a little embarrassed to say, but the black rubber strap is what pulled me in. Nice watches with metal bracelets are really not my thing and I've never found them comfortable. The following tips will help you spot a truly fake and bogus Omega Seamaster including the Planet Oceans and other non PO models.

Spotting fake watches is similar to spotting counterfeit currency, the appearance along with the feel will be suspicious or raise flags and compel you to walk away or demand to have the piece inspected by another authorized dealer or have the private owner grant you permission or follow you to the dealer to open the piece. Few Omega SeaMasters are so rare that it can't be purchased elsewhere and any dealer who refuses to accommodate your request and satisfy your suspicions can be avoided while you search for one who will accommodate you.

First, lets focus on bracelets because an Omega bracelet or leather strap can easily cost $350 - $1,000+ and can be listed as a separate line item on your invoice from the authorized dealer. Bracelets are often a skimped detail and the quickest clue to a fake.

1. Fake metal bracelets will burnish easily and you can take any fine and non-abrasive jewelers polishing cloth and hand rub rapidly and with force on any edge of the bracelet or clasp. =If the edge shows wear or discoloration then the chrome or inferior polishing of the cheap steel is wearing off at the weakest points and this is a dead give away.

2. Fake clasps often have convenience pins or multiple pin holes to quickly adjust the bracelet, this is commonly found on replacement bracelets to provide the greatest amount of flexibility when fitting a cheap bracelet to replace a broken one. These cheap clasps can adjust for the equivalent of two whole links by moving the pin placement. Omega and most other fine sport watches prefer adjusting their bracelets by adding and removing links and not with 8 adjuster pins in the clasp.

3. Fake clasps often lack the scuba diver extender.

4. Fake clasps are often unevenly finished being more or less shinier on interior side which rests against your skin, this is the trademark of a counterfeiter since they have to focus on the topside exterior to fool you in the quickest amount of time.

5. The crystal (glass), genuine Omegas are anti glare coated on both sides, hold the Omega at an angle and bring the crystal back to your view gradually and notice any glare, then while facing the watch head on and in well lit room, "flick pivot" your wrist in a fashion to catch glare sweep across the crystal, the markers (numerals) should never become invisible or hidden behind glare when rocking the piece back and forth. NOTE: Some owners have purposely removed the exterior anti glare coat because the exterior coating can become "scratched" without scratching the actual crystal surface. When the exterior coating becomes scratched it will be evident as blue streaks that never seem to wipe off. Although it is difficult to damage this exterior coating, owners who've managed to do so may just choose to remove all of it instead of recoating it. An owner that has managed to scratch the exterior anti-glare has used harsh materials on their watch and this may be an indicator of abuse or inattentive owner. Some purists just despise exterior anti-glare and they will likely notify you of this immediately when discussing the timepiece.

6. The Bezel should rotate 120 clicks and only counterclockwise, it should line up precisely with every marker and the fastest way to spot a fake bezel is inspect it at the 7, 22, 37 and 57 positions because counterfeiters often fail to print the face w precision and this is most evident at these off numbers. If the arrow marker at 12 on the bezel doesn't precisely point at those 7-57 numbers then it is suspect. The bezel Pearl, this is the luminescent "dot" at the 12 position on the rotating portion should be recessed, there is a metal ring which may be raised but the pearl should be flush. Counterfeiters are often unable to duplicate this detail and will just take a cheap piece of luminescent plastic and glue it onto the bezel, that is a definite fake bezel and the entire piece is suspect. The crown only rotates one direction so it can be used as a start reference point and less susceptible to becoming accidentally moved during activity (such as when you're using the rotating bezel to measure your SCUBA air tank capacity)

7. The crown, this is the "knob" on the side used to wind and adjust a wrist watch, an Omega crown will have the greek Omega symbol embossed, don't be afraid if it isn't right side up when tightened since this isn't an indication of anything except a crown that is either over or undertightened. Some uninformed web sources have claimed the crown will always close back to the upright position if resting on its back and this isn't true for Omegas, Rolex, Breitling or any other fine watch we've ever seen. That logic is as ridiculous as saying the 5 star spokes on a Ferrari wheel will always stop and line upright whenever it is parked.

Regarding whether the movement ticks or sweeps, quartz battery watches are known to tick (but not always) and automatics are known to sweep, this rule is best applied to judging Rolex since Rolex has made fewer quartz or ticking watches than Omega. Omega does make quartz pieces so a battery powered quartz Omega can be genuine.

Most Omegas and Planet Oceans casebacks aren't transparent to display the inner movement, although some special editions have been released with clear backs and other genuine models such as the Speedmaster can have clear backs. Clear case backs are often used by counterfeiters to distract the unwary buyer and satisfy suspicion since you're witnessing a working movement with a poorly stamped logo on internal components. Rolex hasn't released an official clear caseback for decades and was before World War II. Any Omega SeaMaster with clear caseback will be a special edition and the dealer should be asked about it.

Genuine Omega Movements are made by ETA (acquired by Swatch Group) and although the movements are expensive they aren't impossible to obtain by counterfeiters by stripping out from other lesser watches or even surreptitiously obtaining directly from ETA. To validate the movement you have to open the case, a Planet Ocean will have a second inner sealing case back to be removed to expose the movement.

The Co-Axial escapement is new for the Seamaster Planet Oceans but impossible to detect when judging a closed time piece, some master watchmakers can detect the sound of the escapement with a stethoscope and even claim they can diagnose the health of the movement.

I am rather opinionated when it comes to luxury watches. This comes from spending 2 years in watchmaking school, studying directly under the guidance of a certified master swiss watchmaker who came here from Europe. This movement in THIS watch is actually EXCELLENT in terms of quality, time keeping ability, and construction - easily comparable to other Swiss made movements from other famous manufacturers costing several times as much. This watch, properly serviced, will provide a lifetime of use - and probably more. Absolutely the sort of watch you pass down to the next generation.

All in all - and EXCELLENT choice - especially for those seeking their first QUALITY Swiss watch purchase.

I have a discontinued version of this watch (AT0060-05F) which differs only in that the case is titanium and the second hand is not red nor the water resistance mark on the dial. I find the 46mm case size for my 7.25" wrist to be about perfect. It is bold but not vulgar. The strap is fairly comfortable but the shape of the watch back makes it stand off your wrist a bit. This deficiency is only noticeable in relation to other very comfortable watches such as my Casio PRG90T. The face is very legible even from extreme angles. The date aperture is small however and you will not be able to just glance at it in anything but bright outdoor light. Accuracy in the month that I have owned this watch is excellent - it has lost less than 15 seconds. At night, the hands and numerals glow blue (see my photo). The crystal, although mineral, seems to be pretty scratch resistant, mine is still flawless. Finally, the watch is water resistant to 200m which adds greatly to its readiness for duty as a tool watch. Because of the detailing of this watch (chromed numeral edges, knurled crown, brushed finish) you could wear it with office casual or in other semi-formal modes without concern. I have had more compliments about this watch than another much more expensive watch that I own. Tissot's PRS200 has a very classy, elegant look. The black face goes well with anything, and the metal finish is beautifully polished. (The only downside to this is that fingerprints will show up easily.)

This watch has just the right amount of weight. Heavy enough to feel substantial and durable, yet light enough to not be cumbersome. The band itself fits comfortably on my wrist, and the clasp is secure.

I couldn't find a way to give less than 1 star for this or I would have. I have no complaints about the watch itself; it looks great and works well. The problems start when the batteries run out - which takes about a couple of years. I took my watch to an authorized dealer in IL to get the batteries changed and found out that the watch has to be shipped out to the manufacturer (Tissot) someplace in California. This was way back in August - I followed up with the IL dealer almost every week for 4 months and got absolutely no response about the status. The dealer tells me that it is hard to get a "person" to talk to at Tissot - they only respond by email !
Well its mid Nov now and I have just been told by the dealer that Tissot finally responded and I should get my watch back in another week. So that is about 4 1/2 months to get the batteries changed. This is the 3rd Ironman Datalink watch for my husband. They have been more scarce recently so he requested a backup for his current watch #2. The 1st watch connected with the computer via the monitor. When monitor technology advanced to digital displays he had to move to this model which links via USB. The watch has never failed and gets a pretty tough workout in a very corrosive environment. It links easily to a PC to synch with schedules and phone book. Looks professional yet rugged. Lots of timer capability for his work as a chemist.
He doesn't want to be without one in the future.

The only real drawback is the dedicated watchband which, after several years, has broken. He really likes the metal link style band, but hasn't yet found a replacement.

This is my 3rd Invicta and first automatic from them. I couldnt pass up the price and my other Invicta's have worked really well. The case is really well sized, not too big and not too small. I had to take 6 links out so you know you get a lot of room to adjust. The links are solid steel, not folded which is nice. The exhibition case back is a really nice touch and the rotor has a nice finish with Invicta Watch Group on it. The rotor moves smoothly and it takes a couple good shakes to get it going. Note that this automatic cannot be hand wound. It has the look and feel of an expensive watch, but you wont have to worry about banging it up with everyday use. It doesnt have a screw down crown, so the 200m rating is a little suspect. The longevity and accuracy of the movement will take time to tell.

Shipping and all. shopemco was the vendor and they provided excellent service - all the way. I am very pleased with the watch. The 5 alarms are plenty and there is a countdown timer as well. I wanted a countdown timer that you could program in intervals of seconds, starting at zero. but this watch starts at one minute and goes in increments of minutes. So, you can count down one , or two, or three, etc minutes. This is fine and this feature works well. The alarm is loud and clear and there is even a snooze feature. The watch is primarily an analog watch with digial features in the background, which can be hidden by the moving hands. This can be difficult until it gets used to. I brought this watch as it is solar powered and it is atomic powered. Being solar, I will never have to buy another battery, like I did for my Timex, that I said, no battery- no more Timex - so I threw it away and replaced it with this watch. This watch has performed flawlessly for 31 days. It has not come off and is comfortable to wear. The styling is exactly what I was looking for - tough, rugged, sophisticated adventure, and just downright cool. I just received this watch in the mail, and I can honestly say that I am very impressed with it. The presentation of the watch itself, while it was still in the box, is incredible. This is the finest watch I've ever owned, and I hope to have it for as long as I live.

The only issue I have was in figuring out how the clasp worked. It took a few mintues of trial and error (lucky I didn't damage the leather strap), but I finally worked it out. I wish that TAG would've put some simple instructions, as some of us have never used this sort of clasp system before!

I received this Tag Carerra as a gift about 4 months ago, after having desired it for over a year. This is a beautiful time piece that I really enjoy keeping and wearing, and hope to have forever. The black face makes reading the time even easier. The band is probably stainless steel, with a silver inner lining, and is amazingly comfortable. The links are small, and hence bend easily and flexibly. The snap is the best I have ever used, and seems like it will last a long time, unlike my Bulova's snap. Also, it seems to be somewhat resistant from scratching, which is typically a problem for a hard core Excel/computer user like myself.

The back of the watch is clear, so that you can witness the self winding mechanism. Ironically, this option is the only drawback. If you do not wear the watch, and take it off for more than 24 hours, you will probabaly find that it has lost the time, needing to be re-set. If this were my only watch, it would not be a problem. But since I take it off and on so much, leaving it laying around for a week or 2 every now and then means I have to re-set it. This annoying quirk ironically I believe is marketed as a big selling point.

Bought this watch because I like having both analog and digital on my watch. While I don't use it much, the multiple time zone capability is a nice touch. Overall, fairly easy to use, with one major complaint. The analog is VERY DIFFICULT to set. It will only go forward to set, and this can take a long time. Make sure you read the direction, as there is a way to do it where you don't have to hold the button while it runs forward. This problem alone knocks the watch down a star. The watch was also slightly thicker, but had a smaller diameter then I expected. This may just be what I expected, based on my previous watch. I received this watch as a gift from my Amazon Wish List and I could not be happier. As a Backpacker and Pilot, this watch ahs the functions that I want and I never have to worry about batteries, winding, or if it is accurate. Although the manual is large, once the watch is set up it is easy to operate and I have not had to refer back to the manual since the first day.

The watch is a bit bulky, but very light. The numbers are very easy to read on the main face for those of us that have passed into our 40's and need the support of reading glasses, though the text around the face is very small and I can not read it without the assistance of my reading glasses.

One note is that the watch does not do a continuous compass function. It takes a reading and then locks. I guess the point is to take a heading reading on a fixed point. It would be a nice feature if you could choose between continuous compass readings and a read and lock.

This review refers to the Model 2218.50, XL version (45 mm case) with steel bracelet. The opinions of the movement, adjustment and reliability are also applicable to the model with rubber strap and leather / lizard strap.

This is a hefty timepiece, it weighs 9+ ounces (over half a pound), it feels and exudes quality and is bound to illicit a glance and a double take. The domed double anti glare sapphire crystal is super sharp and sometimes hard to determine it is even there.

The exterior is a combination of brushed and polished stainless steel, most notably the trademark Omega horns are this blended finish.

The screw down crown is adorned with the Omega logo and easy to open, the first position enables manual winding for a power boost, the helium escape valve at 10:00 is adorned with the periodic symbol "He".

Clockwise turns of the crown in second position adjusts the date forward, the date can't be adjusted backwards. Time adjustment is easy and rapid; no adjustment for seconds is available.

The luminescent material of this watch is a glow magnet, just a few seconds exposure to sunlight or held close to a lamp will turn the face of this watch into a lighthouse! Combined with the chrome and split bezel hands of the subdials and this timepiece can be used as a signal mirror for low flying aircraft.

The Omega 3313 movement is identical to their 3303 movement except the 3313 has the co-axial escapement, this is the same movement inside the Omega DeVille and will be used in future models.

The accuracy of this watch is only surpassed by my Omega SeaMaster Quartz 300 2221.80, my Quartz Omega never loses or gains a second and the PO gains less than 5 seconds a week. The days I don't wear it, I spend 60 seconds winding it and store it standing vertically for optimum movement.

The bracelet includes the scuba extension of all SeaMasters, but has no convenience pins for rapid adjustment or for bodily weight fluctuation. It releases easily with the double release pins and feels confidently closed when clasped.

I've performed testing of the power reserve, it continues to function about 43 hours with a full wind.

The watch can also function with a running chronograph for over 40 hours on a full wind, that is impressive.

Overall, I'd recommend this watch for anyone who wants an exquisite sport timepiece which isn't out of place at a formal, like all of the Omegas made before it; I expect this watch to endure for my grandchildren and their grandchildren.

I purchased this watch a couple of years ago. It's a true tool watch - function over form. The face is clearly a modern design of Omega famous SM 300, with large sword hands and over-sized indicies. The advantage of this is the lume on this watch is outstanding, perfect for low light conditions. It will show the time in three times zones, the local time, home time and with the turn of a bezel a third time zone. Like others have said this makes it a real GMT in that it has a bezel and a jump hour hand. The disadvantage of this GMT design is you loose the quick set date. The case is heavy at about 165g and it is waterproofed to 300m/1000ft which is unusual for a GMT. The movement is a chronometer certified Omega cal.1120 which is an Eta 2892-A2 modded with two extra jewels, Geneva wave finishing and improved winding efficiency. The bracelet is solid stainless 316L steel and very comfortable. So what's not to like. First, I prefer the Fliplock clasp of the Rolex GMT - there's no way this can open by accident. Secondly, the bezel (which is 120 click) can move if you knock your watch. It's just not as tight as the Rolex. Other than that, this is an outstanding watch, perfect for the job it is intended to do.

Finally, if you are buying your first mechanical watch, remember that they need to be serviced every four to five years, which isn't cheap and make sure you are getting a good warranty if you are not buying from a A.D. This watch is absolutely amazing. I picked it up for $69.99 a few weeks ago and waited to review it until I had broken it in.

Case-
Solid 306l stainless. Holds up well in a woodshop, has been scraped by knives and the like and doesn't look worse for the wear. The face of the watch is a nice golssy black which changes color depending on the light. It is beautiful.

Band-
Nice rubber band. Seems like it should hold up well over time. A little long but very nice looking.

Movement-
Frankly the most important part of a watch, the TMI NH25A is a clone of a Seiko movement, but runs within 10sec a day, very impressive considering how short of a time I've had it. You can see the movement through the Sapphire window on the back and its very impressive to show off. The case says "Japan Movt" so I would assume that they are telling the truth and it is in fact Japanese not Chinese as said above.

Overall I love this watch. It takes a beating and still works and looks good. It was inexpensive, and looks as though it cost quite a bit more than it did.

About a week in, and so far I am very impressed with this watch. I bought an Invicta Pro Diver #8926 from Sam's Club for over $100. Initially I liked that watch a lot till one day the band out of nowhere fell apart, and the watch kissed the floor shattering the crystal.

I looked online and found that Amazon had the #8926 for $65 and the #6013 for about $70. I was going to spring for the #8926 again because I really enjoyed it, but decided to try the #6013. Not long after I received the package from USPS, I realized I made the right choice.

Differences between the #6013 and #8926 Pro Diver:
-The #6013 packaging is much smaller than the #8926's.
-The #6013 is a 43mm case diameter watch compared to the #8926's 40mm. While 40mm seems to visually fit my slim wrist better, I do like the feel of the 43mm, and I'm starting to think that 42-43mm are perfectly sized watches for most individuals.
-The date crystal on the #6013 also seems to magnify more than the #8926.
-The crown on the #6013 is not of the screw down variant like the #8926, and therefore is susceptible to water and other debris. However, the watch is rated to 200M, and I have already been in pretty wet conditions. The results so far are good.
-Looks like you cannot manually wind the #6013 with the crown unlike the #8926. Seems like wearing the watch constantly is the only way to keep the mainspring wound.
-The transparent back on the #6013 is smaller than the #8926 (maybe because the increase in case size), but rotor on the #6013 has these intricate designs that eclipses the bland rotor on the #8926. Visually it looks like a higher end product compared to the #8926.
-The huge INVICTA script on the side of the watch case is removed on the #6013 (Which is something I prefer), and several Invicta logos have been removed around the watch, such as the logo off the seconds hand and the crown.
-So far, I have noticed that the watch keeps time better than the #8926. Where my #8926 was gaining 10 seconds per day, this #6013 has been been ticking at the same pace for a week now -- maybe it's because the Japanese movement is different between the #8926 and the #6013, or maybe it's because I am wearing this watch constantly because I love it so much! =)

All in all, for a starter automatic watch, I don't think you can beat this watch. It has the looks, the quality, and most of all, the value. It would be a mistake not to buy one, especially from a spectacular retailer like Amazon.

This watch has been all over the world with me since I got it in 2003 and has served well. It's good in the water and will definitely take a beating. I just have to mention the couple of hang ups I've had with mine. If you're a mechanic or deal with a lot of petroleum products then try to keep them off the watch as the pretty attention grabbing ring around the face of the watch is only attached with glue and will peal off if you let it stay too oily or hot. The other issue comes along if you weld much as the solar feature of the watch will peeter out if you aren't careful to keep it from experiencing too much arc. These are only two small complaints in scope considering that most people would never know about them, but I thought that people should be warned as the second can essentially ruin the watch. Other than the two aforementioned items this watch has worked flawlessly and comes highly recommended from someone who puts his watches through a lot. I owned two Forresters and an early Triplesensor before my G-Shock and never got more than a year or two out of them. THE GOOD-

+ The Invicta 6067 is a big, nice looking watch meant to imitate the famous Seiko Orange Monster at half the price. It's even powered by a Seiko-designed NH25A automatic movement, (but the movement is not made by Seiko, it's a clone made by a Chinese company called TMI.) It has a nice reflective, brushed-metallic orange face that is very noticeable. The face absolutely radiates in full sun. The case is 43mm (1.69", excluding the crown)

+ A sapphire-coated mineral crystal Invicta calls "Flame Fusion" that's on both the front and back of the watch. Some claim that solid sapphire is susceptible to shattering with hard impacts. Mineral crystal can withstand impacts, but it scratches easily. The "Flame Fusion" sapphire coating claims to have both strength and scratch resistance. If flame fusion is hype, I suspect the the protruding "cyclops" date magnifier will be the first to be scratched. Incidentally, the scratch resistance of sapphire is NOT hype. I've tested the scratch resistance on another solid sapphire Invicta I own by touching the rear crystal with a 30,000 RPM carbide cutting tool. The crystal did not scratch-- Amazing! If you are rough on watches, a sapphire crystal is the way to go.

+ The power reserve is 41 hours, according to the TMI technical data sheet I found online, so it should still be on time if you skip wearing it a day.

+ If it runs down, adjusting both the date and time is really fast. Pull the crown to the first position and the numbers quickly click to the correct date. (You can go through all 31 days in 10 seconds). The 2nd crown position adjusts the time.

+ I almost returned it when I discovered that it can't be hand-wound. The claim is that when it stops running it will start again as soon as you pick it up. And, well... it DOESN'T. Yes, it WILL start ticking a little, but it looses lots of time until it is sufficiently wound, so shaking for about 15 seconds is recommended before wearing. It is difficult to get the bi-directional winding balance to spin freely, but it seems to stay wound.

Invicta's other automatic movement is a Citizen-made Miyota uni-directional winding movement that CAN be hand-wound if needed. This TMI made NH25A movement cannot be hand-wound, but winds bi-directionally meaning that the oscillating weight wheel will wind the watch with any slight movement of your arm. I own both movements and I prefer the Miyota, because the oscillating wheel spins more freely, and hand winding is faster than shaking like a epileptic. This NH25A is hard to get spinning, which makes a difference when you have to shake it to get it wound sufficiently. The TMI technical specs state the NH25A accuracy is between -25 and +35 seconds a DAY @ normal temperatures, (not too impressive) and runs for 41 hours on a full wind.

THE QUESTIONABLE-

? The model 6067 is rated to 200 meters water resistance, but it doesn't have a screw-down crown. Hmmmmm.
? The movement manufacturer, TMI is the company affiliated with several "high-priced" shady internet brands you've never heard of like Louis Bolle, Wohler, Balmer, Eberle, Stuhrling, etc. These Chinese watches have MSRPs of thousands of dollars, but always sell at 90% discounts online. I just hope this clone movement is as high quality as the Seiko manufactured 'real" one.

THE BAD-

- Invicta's generic instruction manual is a joke. Only 2 of the 49 pages deal with this particular model, and those 2 pages say very, VERY little. Disappointing for a good watch.
- Also, it's not hard to find people who are unhappy with Invicta's customer service on the internet. Customer service is obviously not a priority on their flashy website either. It's full of sights and sounds, and offers nothing other than slick marketing. Don't even try to find a phone number to customer service... it doesn't exist. All they offer is snail mail, no chat, email, or anything. (They play nice music on the site to reduce your anger, though!)

- Invicta is known to inflate their MSRP values, and this watch is no exception. The box came labeled with a 395.00 MSRP, but since it's not worth that, it sells for for 80.00-100.00 The inflated MSRP makes Invicta look like one of those shady Chinese companies selling thousand dollar watches for eighty bucks on Evilbay.

IN SUMMARY,

This is a nice looking watch that's worth it's 80-100.00 price range. With it's sapphire coated crystal, the rubber strap, and surgical grade 316L stainless steel, it should be able to take a beating without showing wear.

Many Invicta Pro Diver watches have a ridiculously large, tacky engraving of the company name on the left side of the case. (about a 13 font size in bold) Thankfully, they've gotten over their pretentiousness and didn't put that butt-ugly engraving on this model. It has a bold, clean look.

If this is your first automatic watch, don't expect quartz-like accuracy. Automatics are complicated time pieces with more than a hundred moving parts vs. a few electronic parts in their quartz cousins. Not even the most expensive automatic is as accurate as the average quartz. (My new 6067 gains 25 seconds a day, but automatics tend to get more accurate as they break-in.) So, if you appreciate the craftsmanship and the "cool factor" of an automatic watch, then it's worth correcting the time occasionally. Also be aware that automatics need to be cleaned and lubricated every few years by an expert. Invicta charges 35.00 to clean & lubricate automatics, and the service takes more than a month.

OK so like a lot of guys I have always wanted a Rolex. My wife thinks I am nuts but there is something about a Rolex which is just unique. I do have an Omega which is beautiful but cannot justify the cost of even a used Rolex yet.

But the Submariner is a great looking watch and this Invicta could be it's twin. I originally had the less expensive clone of the 9937 with the Japanese movement. It was quite nice, but the braclet for example was a little tinny feeling compared to the Rolex (I have a relative who has a Rolex Submariner so I can compare the two closely).

I happened to read a review of this Swiss made Invicta Pro Diver and ordered it about a year ago, from Amazon I believe...my friend, there is no comparison. As has been mentioned elsewhere this is just a beautifully made watch, very well finished, extremely accurate for a manual movement. Quite honestly if you took the Invicta name off and put Rolex on it, I would imagine any Rolex owner would be happy with the quality of this watch. I know that sounds hard to believe but as I look at the watch right now, after being worn hundreds of times, it is still a beautiful piece of craftsmanship,very substantial clasp and braclet, great finish, no scratches on the crystal as of yet, keeps really good time, nice reserve so if you wear another watch for a day it is still running and keeping good time.

When you get this watch you will be astonished at how beautiful it looks. My only issue with Invicata is their marketing strategy...I know this sounds strange but their list prices are so much higher than the actual selling prices on the Internet and on Shop NBC for example that it makes their quality appear suspect. In fact they make a great watch. But, they have so many goofy styles out there (sorry but it's true) that they loose a little respect in the marketplace. Also, you don't see their products in retail stores very much, at least in the Chicago and New York area which is what I am familiar with. You would have to send the watch in for warranty repair but if the watch is out of warranty I am sure any competent watchmaker could fix this movement because it is a standard, well regarded Swiss movement.

I purchased this watch directly from Amazon two weeks ago. I noticed that it gains about 10 seconds per day, or around 1.24 minutes per week. I was initially concerned about this and was considering sending it back to be either repaired or replaced. I hated to go through that hassle, however. In the process of doing this, I learned that while it is an authentic Tag watch, it isn't covered by the Tag warranty, because Amazon isn't an authorized Tag dealer. It is covered by a two year warranty from Amazon though. Amazon was willing to refund my money if I returned it, but as I did some research, it seemed that this is a common issue with Tag mechanical watches, and mechanical watches in general. This is the first watch that non-battery operated watch I've owned in years.

I called the Tag service center to talk to a repair tech about my watch and get a ballpark cost of paying to have it repaired. The tech asked me how much time it gained per week. I told her about 1.24 minutes per week. She told me that the tolerance was 2 minutes per week and that my watch was within the tolerance. As a result of this information and other information that I found online, I've decided to do nothing.

In conclusion, I was a little concerned when I learned that the watch wasn't covered by the Tag warranty. Given that I saved around a thousand dollars, I'm ok with the tradeoff. As far as the watch gaining time, after researching that issue, I'm ok with that as well. I was very interested in this watch for a long time and was very impressed by ads online and in magazines. I backpack in the east where you cannot always see the sun or surrounding terrain from either tree cover or clouds/rain. I've found the functions on this watch to be helpful when backpacking.

Navigation: The compass is good for a quick orientation of the map or general heading determination, but it isn't accurate enough for orienteering. The altimeter is good checking elevation against known elevations during climb and descent so you can better determine your location on the trail - that said, you should be familiar with how to set the elevation to a reference point and do so as often as possible to maintain accuracy.

Weather: I've also found that the barometer can give you a heads up when there is a weather change on the way. This takes some time to learn and isn't always a perfect way to know what the weather will do, but it can help.

Battery/Solar charging: The multi signal alarms have been just loud enough to wake me up when I need to get out of the sleeping bag by a certain time. I've only had the watch a short time, so I'm interested to see how well the battery holds up over the years with re-charging. It came on a medium charge, and within a day of use was at max charge which it hasn't come down from yet despite a week of working nights.

Size: The watch is a little heavy and bulky compared to a normal watch. But compared to some of the other watches with similar functions it is very comparable.

Price: The cost of the watch almost made me not get one. I tend to go through watches every couple of years. My last watch was a Timex Ironman with digital compass that bit the dust in Iraq and had to be replaced by a cheap watch I found over there. It was my second Ironman in about 8 years. I hope that this thing is rugged enough that the cost ends up equaling out over time over what I would normally spend on multiple watches.

I just got this watch and I love it. The time piece is very distinctive and people will notice you are wearing a quality Swiss time piece just by the looks of it. I won't comment much on the appearance of the watch, other than to say I like it.

As a pilot the primary feature that appeal to me are:

* The large, easy to read face,
* The continuously visible, offsettable 24H hand (used for GMT),
* And the date display.

The integrated e6b is purely for aesthetics. About the only math operation I can do faster on this watch than in my head is take a square root (which is a neat circular sliderule trick). I personally find a *real* e6b unwieldy in a cockpit environment, and you can turn one of those to any position instantly rather than having to crank it around with a tiny knob. To use the one in this watch you must remove it from your wrist for two reasons: 1) only half of the rotating bezel can really be read on your wrist, and 2) the crown for turning it is at the 8 o'clock position. I have used the outer bezel's red '60>' mark to note a position of the minute hand like you might use a dive bezel, but without the handy minute marks. If the e6b really appeals to you beyond gadget factor, consider a watch where the e6b is operated by rotating the outer bezel and the entire ring is readable without removing it from your wrist.

This brings us to the only really pilot-y feature of this watch, in my opinion: The 24H GMT hand. Everything in aviation is in "zulu" time. Flight plans, weather, winds aloft, NOTAMs, airport hours of operation, etc. This watch has a movement suitable for a 24h outer ring, but instead displays the time with a two-headed 4th hand in two concentric semi-circles on the left of the watch. The scale is much larger than the inner dials used on some watches, but it is still finicky to read. The hand moves continuously, so whenever you are near the top of the hour you have to consult the minute hand first to interpret the 24h hand. The hour and minute hands can both totally eclipse the 24h hand. Twice a day the hour hand obscures the 24h pointer for the better part of an hour. The red markings from 13..24 are not nearly as easy to read as the white marks (there's an otherwise very attractive Asian model of this watch with a brown face where the red marks are almost totally illegible).

The lume is good and lasts for many hours. Immediately after direct sun exposure you can see it glowing even in the shade outside. The date clicks over fairly rapidly at midnight (it does not spend a long time halfway between dates). It has a screw-down crown. The stem could use a little more definition when pulled out to the first detent (used to offset the hour hand and adjust the date on short months). The bracelet is comfortable and easy to adjust in 1/8" increments.

I can't claim to be a connoisseur of fine watches but I'm very impressed by this Tag. My first Tag was actually a fake given to me by a friend, which died shortly after being taken waterskiing. This new watch is certainly of better quality and feels like it is built for water sports. I feel very confident that this Formula 1 could survive just about anything thrown at it.

The one thing that really surprised me is how well it fits. I have small wrists and had to remove a number of links in order to find an appropriate length. I was concerned that it may appear too large since I'm accustomed to wearing smaller Bulovas and the like. Another surprise was just how classy the red background is. I wanted a watch of superior quality, which is why I chose a Tag, and also wanted something that would stand out a little, which is why I chose the red one. My plan was to wear it strictly on the motorcycle or while skiing. That plan was destroyed when I tried it on with a suit. The Formula 1 did not clash with what I was wearing at all. I think I am much happier with this color than anything else I could've gotten (white and black just seems boring now). I'll admit it's flashy and that's what drew me towards it. Even so, most people will have few regrets getting this.

Other than the one reviewer who had an unfortunate run-in with a defective watch, the Tag Heuer name speaks for itself. The chain is solid without being too hefty, the sapphire crystal seems un-damageable, and the styling is subtle but still noticeable. The chronometer feature is very cool and will, hopefully, impress anyone who takes the time to pay attention to it. The image makes this watch look deceptively average; The bracelet is 'oversized' in scale with the watch, and the large crown protector make it hard to judge the size in a image with nothing else in it for comparison. This is not your typical size diver watch.. for those who like large watches, look no further!

The outer diameter of the bezel is just over 2" - now the biggest in my collection! In spite of the mass it is surprisingly comfortable; easily wearable all day, something I can't say about my Invicta Reserve Specialty which is actually smaller. The rubber links in the bracelet do not feel or look cheap whatsoever, with the links being of the screwed-in variety to boot.

I originally was looking at the all black 4902, but ultimately wound up choosing this 'gunmetal/black' version and am glad I did. The case and steel center links are a very dark gray, while the rubber links, bezel, and a few other details are black. The gunmetal is different enough from the black to be of contrast, but is not so light that it looks out of place. The two materials and colors complement each other nicely.
